![]() While I would love for there to be more diffusion or drive controls directly in the delay line, I can still just use Timeless 3 separately. ![]() Past that, you can control the panning and feedback as well as an additional four multimode filters. You can set it to be a stereo delay or ping pong. The delay I was hoping would be more akin to Timeless 3, but it still sounds great. The brightness knob acts as a dampening control, and the predelay is a predelay. Reverb times can be set to up to 20 seconds. ![]() The reverb is a favourite and has a wonderfully chorused character about it. You have the option of using reverb, delay, chorus, phaser, drive, and compression. These aren’t subject to massive tweakability, but they sound great as you’d expect. There are six high-quality FabFilter effects directly bundled in. It wouldn’t be a FabFilter synth without some of those premium effects bundled in there. Review: CUBE by Lunacy Audio Pause for Effects You can even adjust the slope of the filter from as shallow as 6dB per octave to an astoundingly steep 48dB per octave. The filter types on offer are equally robust, with options for low pass, high pass, band pass, bell, low and high shelf, and notch filters. Did I mention just about every part of the filter aside from the type is freely modulated? Further tuning of the filters comes from the frequency and resonance offsets provided. The filter styles of Volcano 3 make a reappearance here, so you get the option of smooth and tame all the way up to nasty and distorted. The final option is running a filter per oscillator, meaning you can make some truly dense patches if you feel so inclined. They can also be run in parallel where the oscillators’ output is fed through both filters and summed together after passing through however many filters are active. Each of these filters can be run in serial, so you can make truly wild custom comb filters or phasers. There are four filters on offer, almost directly lifted from Volcano 3. The filter section is where things get truly interesting. This isn’t quite as gnarly as an Arp Odyssey, but it does the trick quite well for those sneering industrial leads. ![]() Ring modulation is also possible between oscillators 1 and 2 or 3 and 4. If you’re after those sharp metallic plucks this is one place to look. You can place oscillators up to three octaves above or below the master tuning.Įach of the oscillators is subject to hard syncing, and it sounds wild when fully engaged. Fine-tune can be forced into coarse tuning for semitones. The tuning of the oscillators is standard, you can detune with the fine-tune quite readily. These have additional tonal harmonics, and Square Pure is a wonderful selection for your bread-and-butter bass plucks. The square and triangle waves have an additional selection called Square Pure and Triangle Pure. The oscillators sound great bare, they’re very precise in their base state with no filtering or processing on top of them. These are all readily synced, and the square waves can of course have some pulse width modulation slung on them. You get access to your saw, square, triangle, and sine waves. The oscillator section is honestly the least interesting section of Twin 3. Twin 3 is home to four oscillators with four waveforms and a noise generator selectable. There are no additional tabs, the opening screen is what you get. You can see bits of multiple FabFilter products directly in the main interface. But it is extremely efficient and packed with the same gleam and shine as anything else FabFilter has ever done.ĭo you need another subtractive synthesizer? Maybe not.īut this one has four filters… so… maybe? Does It Do Supersaws?įabFilter Twin 3 is a well-honed synth and is the result of years of refining their premium effects line. Twin 3 isn’t a massive paradigm-shifting wondersynth like your Avengers, Phase Plants, and Omnispheres. FabFilterįabFilter Twin 3 isn’t going to reinvent the wheel. Rather use presets? Twin 3 comes with a library of carefully designed, quality sounds that you can use right away. Sound design becomes a true pleasure with the completely redesigned, intuitive interface. So, even though they’re better known for their industry-standard mixing processors and effects, they still have a brand-new shiny updated synth to play with.įabFilter Twin 3 is equipped with the best possible analog-modeled oscillators, award-winning filters and an extensive effects section. After all, they got their start with synths and filters and other bits and bobs. I’ve known for years and years that FabFilter has its own synth, Twin. If you’re like me your ears perk right up when you hear announcements from a major dev.
